how to post

Michael asked how to post. While I am the least knowledgable about these things, I can offer you just click on the new post tab. Would love to hear where others are in this process. Michael, do you think there will be work at the inaugeration for people that are not DC certified? Like some simple meet and greets? I'd love to find a way to be there.

Hello Michael,,
I too have had a horrible time trying to navigate the blog, has to be our age !! now that I am on I feel great !!! How is DC. I am sure you will be very busy in the weeks ahead .
Was very busy in Seattle all September working for 4 /5 different companies, events, conventions, airport, cruises and even a 2 day director trip up to Vancouver BC.
I am now sending out resumes , mainly in the West Coast,. Would love to come to DC if I can get work.
Miss seeing your wonderful smile...... Joan

hi joan..

in my mind's eye, everyday i see your sparkle.. as i was starting to plan 2009, i thought to myself that i should head back to san francisco for itmi training.. i had to whack myself in the head and remember that i had jumped over that task.. then i realized how disappointed i was that it was unlikely that we, as a group, would be together again.. so lets try to meet at symposium..

but whatever the future may bring, i will always, always cherish the real friends i made during those days in august..

Im busy sending out resumes.. today i sent out 8-10... im only using email and i dont know how effective that is.. what i do know is that i do get immediate, excited responses from companies in need of licensed guides for the Inaugural.. when i say that i am committed, i can literally hear the air go out of their voices.. when i ask about other work, i get the standard: 'we'll get back to you 'sometime soon'..

Im trying to contact incentive groups like the ones that you work with in seattle.. do some meet and greets, etc.. there seems to be lots of convention, meetings, etc here right now.. hopefully my resume will catch someone's eye.. and i have had some luck with networking with our local guild of tour guides.. they meet once a month at various locales throughout the city, sponsor trips, and offer lots of information about whats happening in DC..

Last month they had a speaker who detailed the 'wwII memorial' and another who spoke about the new 911 memorial at the pentagon..

iv also used the down time to visit some of the sites where my knowledge and 'commentary' is kinda week.. Sunday I walked down to the Vietnam Memorial and a Park Service Ranger gave me a private tour. So every weekend I try to do some 'development' work.. Last week I took a walking tour of the mall sponsored by the National Mall Conservancy.. The tour centered around how Martin Luther King's "I have a Dream" speech echoed the 'Founding Fathers' ideals of the pursuit of freedom.. Certainly a theme i will be able to use when i guide around the mall.. and the week before i took a tour of the National Cathedral grounds.. the guide pointed out the spectacular carvings of the gargoyles and grotesques.. did u know that darth vader and mickey mouse are gargoyles on the cathedral?

so anyway if i dont get work for november and december Im thinking of taking a house in mexico for a month or two.. why dont u think about joining me there.. we can learn some spanish!!

loveya.. please keep in touch.. mike.. my email is mikewaters801@aol.com
